Air conditioning accounts for nearly 50% of the energy use in the United States during peak summer months.

In Hawaii, almost 1/2 our homes and over 90% of our business’ have air conditioning systems.  A typical 24,000 BTU spit AC system consumes over 2,400 watts per hour (2.4kw).  If the 24,000BTU AC runs for 8 hours only at night that is 19.2 kilo watt hours over that 8 hour period.
